In the Grove
Tree Myths and Songs from around the world
Celebrate trees and flowering plants with this unique performance by award-winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb and Celtic harpist Margot Chamberlain. This performance tells us of our timeless connection with the natural world and the deep meaning we have assigned to trees and other plants through the ages. Pieces and music are drawn from the rich cultural traditions of Japan, Wales, England, Australia and Native America. The evening culminates with the haunting Czech legend “The Wild Woman of the Birch Grove” accompanied by Czech song and music.
Refreshing, lyrical and provocative In the Grove looks at the ways various cultures have imagined the living world of plants and trees. From a delicate tale of love celebrating the Cherry trees of Japan, an old English song that speaks of the hidden language of flowers, and the poignant Cornish legend of One Tree Hill, we'll travel round the world in story celebrating this garden of delights. Each story is surrounded by evocative music and songs from many lands.

"In The Grove" is available as an outdoor performance.
It was one of the most moving storytelling nights I've experienced. It reawakened in me, and perhaps all of us there, a sense of the spirit in things. ~ Jay O'Callahan ~ "A Genius Among Storytellers" ~ Time Magazine
