A Thousand Doorways @ Oasis, Cardiff, Wales
October 13 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm£11.37
In Cardiff, Wales, Diane will give a benefit performance of A Thousand Doorways for Oasis, an organization that provides services for refugee families and asylum seekers. The event is part of the University of South Wales’ Storytellers in Conversation Series. After the performance, there will be a conversation between the storyteller and the audience about work sources, inspiration, etc. Diane is thrilled to be doing a benefit performance for Oasis, such an important place of refuge for new refugees. This performance and talk back were arranged by Dr. Joseph Sobol, professor of storytelling at the University of South Wales and a wonderful storyteller, musician and composer himself.
Kurdish food will be prepared to precede the performance, and a dialogue with the audience will follow. Food will be served at 6:30pm, and the storytelling will begin at 7:30. Get tickets here!
1000 Doorways, written and performed by Diane Edgecomb, is an uplifting story of how the human spirit may triumph in the face of the steepest odds. Moved by the silencing of the Kurdish language by Turkish laws and military presence, Edgecomb embarked on a risk-filled journey of heart and intrigue to record the last Kurdish storytellers. The performance at Oasis will be part of her second UK tour, culminating in performances at the Edinburgh International Storytelling Festival.
