Superheroes Summer Reading Diane Edgecomb Storyteller 2015

Folktale Heroes!

What do cultures around the world have in common? Folktale Superheroes!!! Long before the Superheroes of today, people used their SUPER IMAGINATIONS to create folktales about beings with extraordinary powers. Anansi the entertaining Spider God from Africa has web-spinning adventures just like Spiderman. He captures the invisible fairy so that all the stories in the world can be set free. Ninja Turtles have nothing on Jabuti the flute-playing tortoise from the Amazon rainforest, he saves the other animals from Kibungo while teaching the audience how to dance, sing and defeat those who abuse their power and like all superheroes, Jack from Jack in the Beanstalk has an adventure in Ireland with dancing bugs that shows us how laughter is the best medicine! Celebrate our common love of story with these exciting and engaging multi-cultural tales.
