Folktale Superheroes! @ Berlin Memorial School, Berlin, MA

June 7 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Superheroes Summer Reading Diane Edgecomb Storyteller 2015

What do cultures around the world have in common? Folktale Superheroes!!! Long before the Superheroes of today, people used their SUPER IMAGINATIONS to create folktales about beings with extraordinary powers. Anansi the entertaining Spider God from Africa has web-spinning adventures just like Spider-Man. He captures the invisible fairy and the snake that swallows people so that all the stories in the world can be set free. Ninja Turtles have nothing on Jabuti, the flute-playing Tortoise from the Amazon rainforest, who saves the other animals from a monster while teaching the audience how to dance, sing, and defeat those who abuse their power. And Tian, the Lord of the Cranes from China, gives to the poor just like Robin Hood. Celebrate our common love of story with these exciting and engaging multi-cultural tales.

This performance will complement Berlin Public Library’s Summer Reading program, where Diane will also be sharing tales. If you wish to preview Folktale Superheroes!, please contact: dedge@livingmyth.com.
