Don’t miss our annual Boston area event: The Winter Solstice in Story and Song at the historic Loring-Greenough House, in Jamaica Plain, MA, on Thursday December 21st- Saturday December 23rd. The Thursday and Friday evening events begin at 8pm Doors open at 7:30. Tickets $25 – includes traditional refreshments.
(Saturday the 23rd is a shorter one hour matinee beginning at 2:00 pm)
Celebrate the Winter Solstice with evergreen myths, haunting legends of light and entertaining tales accompanied by traditional and original music and song. Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb, accompanied by Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain and multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan, brings to life a variety of ancient tales revealing the deep meanings behind winter holiday traditions. Featured pieces include the beautiful Scandinavian “Legend of the Mistletoe,” humorous English Wassail traditions, and the poignant Greek legend “The Coming of the Days of Peace.” Lovely instrumental melodies, evoking the warmth of the season, round out the event.
Traditional refreshments, including a Wassail Bowl, will be served at intermission in the Loring-Greenough House’s elegant eighteenth century dining room.
Parking: There is ample non-restricted street parking and a large, free public parking lot off Centre Street between Burroughs and Thomas Streets just a block from the Loring-Greenough House.
