RESTRAINTS:
Created through improvisations spanning six years and three countries, RESTRAINTS hovers on the razor’s edge of madness and spiritual transcendence. This existential piece weaves Shaker hymns, the ecstatic poetry of Rumi and recollected dreams into a surreal tapestry etched through with moments of irony, pathos and humor. Hope and despair are twins on the wild roller coaster ride as mind, body and soul struggle to open the right “doors of perception” while walking a dangerous path.

Restraints swings soundly into the next world. Edgecomb expertly captures the terrifying fluidity of psychosis… her juxtapositions prove inspired; she’s aware that fairytales, the gospels and all great drama come from the same tormented place.” Boston Globe
