Seasonal Storytellings
Diane's seasonal and environmental storytelling performances are dedicated to fostering an earth ethic at an early age. Their unique blend of folk and nature lore, mythology and contemporary insight stimulates the imagination and helps children to reconnect and rekindle their emotional ties to the natural world. A truly enjoyable way to celebrate the seasons.
Tailored for family audiences and for school children up through the third grade.
"Thank you so much for enriching our K-2 grade science curriculum with your stories about Seasons. My son still brings up little tidbits from the stories. Your performance was so captivating. It's a pleasure having such a professional artist come to our school." J.W. Killam School Enrichment Council, Reading, MA
Tall Fall Tales
Tall Fall Tales brings alive the autumn world of nature with original stories and songs sure to delight both young and old. In the hilarious tale Plenty of Nuts, young Beatrice just cannot sit still in class. In the end, a lesson from a neighborhood squirrel helps her learn how to concentrate. Fall Fire, based on a Native American myth, tells how a friendly beaver painted the trees with autumn's fiery colors. Celebrate fall and New England with this enchanting seasonal performance.
“Thank You for your performance of ‘Tall Fall Tales’ at the Mansfield Public Library last month. The stories were wonderful, and wonderfully presented, with just the right blend of humor, action, and reverence for nature. The audience was entranced. Your program was a perfect way to celebrate autumn, and National Children’s Book Week.”
Kitty Schacht, Youth Librarian, Mansfield Public Library, Mansfield, MA
Once Upon a Wintertime
Once Upon A Wintertime: Warm your hearts and your imaginations with this performance of tales from long ago. These stories of wintertime magic and fun are drawn from many cultures ranging from the lyrical Grimms tale of Snow White and Rose Red to tales of folksy New England escapades. Transform a winter's day or evening into a time of delight. Choose "Once Upon A Wintertime" as a non-denominational way to celebrate the December holiday season
"Thank you so much for that lively performance of Once Upon A Wintertime, you had the audience eating out of the palm of your hand! You are so good at judging the audience and tweaking your program to fit the group, even so far as the sound system! You are a true professional and we just love you here in Duxbury." Marty O'Meara, Duxbury Free Library, Duxbury, MA
Christmas Magic
Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb presents a rich performance of fanciful tales full of holiday magic and fun. Find out about Johnny Mollasses, a very adventurous Christmas tree ornament and take part in a Santa Claus adventure. The program culminates with a beautiful little Native American legend telling of the meaning and importance of the evergreen trees.
Welcome in the Spring
Welcome in the Spring! with the very best of spring folklore, nature tales and contemporary stories. We'll meet Kate in Kate's Acorn, who gets a special surprise when she helps to save the earthworms - in the end her first acorn grows into an oak! In Kite's Tale, two best friends create an unusual kite that wings us across the sky in a hilarious fantasy of kite strings, bird's nests and song. Welcome in the Spring is the perfect accompaniment to this joyful season.
"What a perfect Welcome to the Spring your storytelling program was! The children loved each story and you captivated the entire audience with your charm." Jeanne Hoffman, Agawam Public Library, Agawam, MA
Summer Escapades
Summer Escapades celebrates family fun with participatory stories chosen from Diane's best-loved family tales. Original fables, folktales and songs give us a look at exiting summertime adventures including the aquatic antics of a curious monkey who goes for a wild ride on the back of a shark! Summer Escapades is also available with Celtic harp accompaniment by Margot Chamberlain
. Either way it's the perfect summertime treat.
Once Upon a Halloween
What would Halloween be without some chillin' tales for the spookiest time of the year? Once Upon A Halloween is a fun-filled, Halloween event - complete with a huge cauldron bubbling over with fog for the last dramatic story! This family program contains some old chestnuts as well as great new Halloween stories full of surprises. All tales are appropriate for family audiences and contain a well-rounded blend of suspense and humor.
