THE WINTER SOLSTICE IN LEGEND AND SONG Celebrate the Winter Solstice with classic evergreen myths, haunting legends of light and entertaining tales surrounded by traditional and original music and song. Featured stories include the beautiful “Legend of the Mistletoe” from Scandinavia, humorous English Wassail traditions, and the poignant Greek legend “The Coming of the Days of Peace.” Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb gives us a fascinating look at the stories behind winter holiday traditions. Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain and multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan bring songs evocative of the season and lovely instrumental melodies to round out the event. This performance sells out early every year so buy your tickets well in advance. JAMAICA PLAIN ~ Saturday, December 21st at 8:00 pm Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain, MA. Tickets $25
JAMAICA PLAIN ~ Sunday, December 22nd at 4:00pm (please note that this is a one hour event with no intermission) Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain, MA. Tickets $20 for adults, $15 for children. This special one hour story and music event features some of Diane’s most popular Solstice tales from the “Legend of the Mistletoe” to a traditional Wassail story where the whole audience joins in. Margot Chamberlain and Tom Megan round out this Solstice event with traditional and original instrumentals and songs on harp, synthesizer and guitar. Appropriate for adults and a family audience ages eight and up.
