THE WINTER SOLSTICE IN LEGEND AND SONG
Celebrate the Winter Solstice with classic evergreen lore, haunting legends of light and entertaining tales surrounded by traditional and original music and song. Featured stories include the beautiful “Legend of the Mistletoe” from Scandinavia, humorous English Wassail traditions, and the poignant Greek legend “The Coming of the Days of Peace.”
Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb accompanied by Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain and multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan offers a fascinating look at the stories behind holiday traditions. Songs evocative of the season and lovely instrumental melodies round out the event. This one hour story and music event features some of Diane’s most popular Solstice legends and songs, from the Legend of the Mistletoe to Wassail traditions and lovely harp and synthesizer instrumentals and songs with Margot Chamberlain and Tom Megan. After a fifteen minute intermission, audience members have the option to attend the church’s annual Longest Night service.

This historic house, built in 1760, is a center for social, cultural, historical, and educational activities. Its large room is perfect for intimate concerts.
On street parking or in the lot behind Blanchard’s a few blocks away on Centre Street is available if the house lot is full. Suggested for adults and children above the age of 12.
