EARTHY STORIES AND SONGS! FOR NATURE AND ECO-AWARENESS:
1) The Tailor: (Grades K-2) This recycling tale shows how we can reuse our favorite objects. Highly interactive, the students will be cutting and sewing along with the Tailor from the beginning. By the end, they will be able to join in on the whole story. Diane’s version is based on a Jewish folktale. Curriculum tie-ins: Recycling, folktales, traditional tales, storytelling.

2) Kate’s Acorn and the Inch by Inch song: (Grades K-2) Kate wants to help all creatures and save the world even if it includes helping earthworms! Her adventures with planting an acorn leads us to understand the invaluable place soil creatures have in the life cycle of plants. Curriculum tie-ins: Soil Creatures, Seasonal changes, Planting.

3) What Now, Cloacina?!!: (Grades K-3) Learning about the water cycle has never been this fun! We learn all about where our water comes from and where it goes to through the eyes of a wayward water spirit traveling through the water and sewage system in search of her pond. In the end, the power of evaporation takes Cloacina up to the clouds where she becomes the rain that fills up her pond again. The Superheroes of today are based on folkloric characters from long ago. Enjoy entertaining folktales about our earliest Superheroes who use their extraordinary powers for the good of all. Story Modules: Anansi from Africa or Lord of the Cranes from China. In these traditional tales from cultures around the world we can find the origins of the themes and characters of modern day Superheroes.
