CURRENT PROJECTS

Kurdish Storytelling Project

For more than two decades, Diane has been documenting the vanishing folkloric tales of the Kurdish people. This ongoing project resulted in the publication of “A Fire in My Heart” the first collection of Kurdish folktales to be published in English and the gathering of hundreds of folk and fairytales which might otherwise be lost. Two Upcoming Books!

The Golden Thread: Finding Meaning in Traditional Tales

This new book-in-process will help teller and listener alike find meaning in Traditional Tales

From fairy tales with their dreamlike landscapes, to deep myths of origin, to the satirical possibilities inherent in Aesop’s Fables, every kind of traditional tale needs a special approach to reveal its meanings. This new book explores each traditional tale type in depth giving all those who enjoy these old stories wonderful new insights.

Source Work for Actors:  a workshop with Zbigniew Cynkutis of the Grotowski Laboratory Theatre

Drawing from extensive notes and recordings from mentor, Zbigniew Cynkutis, of the Polish Laboratory Theatre, Diane’s upcoming book explores and explains his unique approach to theatre. Those who have often been mystified by the work of Grotowski and the Polish Laboratory Theatre will find practical exercises and examples sure to stimulate students and lead to innovate work. From using this approach in the creation of a character to working with scenes and monologues using this unusual technique, many new exercises will be explored.
