For more than two decades, Diane has been documenting the vanishing folkloric tales of the Kurdish people. This ongoing project resulted in the publication of “A Fire in My Heart” the first collection of Kurdish folktales to be published in English and the gathering of hundreds of folk and fairytales which might otherwise be lost. Drawing from extensive notes and recordings from mentor, Zbigniew Cynkutis, of the Polish Laboratory Theatre, Diane’s upcoming book explores and explains his unique approach to theatre. Those who have often been mystified by the work of Grotowski and the Polish Laboratory Theatre will find practical exercises and examples sure to stimulate students and lead to innovate work. From using this approach in the creation of a character to working with scenes and monologues using this unusual technique, many new exercises will be explored.
Living Myth Events
Living Myth Events bring together ancient myths and modern landscapes creating new and vital intersections of Myth and Life. Events have taken place in such unexpected locations as the Boston subway system [Millennium LabyrinTh– co-created with Mari Novotny-Jones and Ean White], the groves of the Arnold Arboretum and the pathways of Tower Hill Botanic Garden.
