This multi-cultural storytelling shows us how folktale characters and plots have the same qualities as today's superheroes! From China to Africa and South America there are folktales about creatures and people who use their extraordinary powers for the good of all.
This four week residency enhances third grade students' narrative abilities. An approved artist educator on the roster of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Diane knows that an immersion in storytelling develops within each person clear and concrete communication skills. Her residencies stress vocal range and flexibility, active listening skills, visualization, and the ability to frame intangible feelings into physical and vocal language. These residencies skillfully develop young students’ expressive and imaginative abilities within the narrative form.

Long before the Superheroes of today, people all over the world used their SUPER IMAGINATIONS to create folktales about creatures and people with extraordinary powers. In this intergenerational storytelling workshop, we’ll play with the basics of storytelling: learning how to re-tell a classic folktale in our own words and exploring storytelling games that help us discover anecdotes from our own life to share.
Diane will be artist in residence for the week of March 16th-24th at First Church Boston as part of their acclaimed Art & Spirit series. At the Sunday service on March 17th she will be joined by Kurdish musician Andrew Mazlum Aytac on saz.

This family event is free and open to the public.

Diane will give the Mothers' Day sermon via Zoom at Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church with reflections and anecdotes on her work gathering personal stories from Kurdish refugees we find the many ways personal story builds bridges to a deeper understanding.
Diane will be live streaming The Language of Flowers exclusively for Howland Public Library patrons! This delightful weave of story, music and song brings alive the dramatic myths that surround our favorite garden flowers. A master storyteller, Diane entertains and enchants transforming into the characters in her tales bringing each story to vibrant life. The performance is completed by elegant harp accompaniment by Margot Chamberlain, songs, Celtic harp interludes and entertaining pieces. Diane brings her delightful Nature Tales to Community School 2nd grade classrooms via Google Meet/ Google Classroom to brighten the day for students and teachers alike. Her performance will enhance curriculum studies in Recycling and Planting.
