Storytelling Residency @ Blackstone Innovation School, Boston, MA

This four week residency enhances third grade students' narrative abilities. An approved artist educator on the roster of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Diane knows that an immersion in storytelling develops within each person clear and concrete communication skills. Her residencies stress vocal range and flexibility, active listening skills, visualization, and the ability to frame intangible feelings into physical and vocal language. These residencies skillfully develop young students’ expressive and imaginative abilities within the narrative form.

Rainforest Legends @ Underwood After School, Newton, MA

Diane entertains early release day and after school students at Underwood School with Rainforest Legends from around the world. This participatory program features songs and chants from Africa to the Amazon rainforest of Brazil. A favorite performer, this is Diane's eighth visit to this extended day.

Expect music, songs and merriment in this special program by Oracle Award winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb accompanied by Margot Chamberlain on Celtic harp. This animated retelling of Ireland’s best-loved gems includes Irish favorites like Gilly Blackfoot where a young lad’s aversion to washing his feet causes him to fall in with a fairy band. Cloaks of invisibility and magic spells abound as hapless Gilly sets out to help free the Princess of France. Known for her vivid comedic style, Diane brings out the best in these interpretations of classic Irish favorites.

Join us at this intimate house concert to hear traditional tales personally gathered in the "stans." Diane and Cathryn share the stories they gathered in remote regions - Diane's folkloric stories from Kurdistan and Cathryn's from Uzbekistan and other regions. Cathryn has been to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and will tell Turkemenistan stories from their most famous bard, Dede Korkut. Diane will be sharing new Kurdish folk and fairy tales never before translated or told in English.

Edgecomb’s comedic adaptation has Arthurian knights running for their therapists faster than you can say “Litigation!” Tom Megan’s score and Margot Chamberlain’s inspired harp accompaniment provide a lush atmosphere of sound as we take a fun-filled journey along the ‘road less traveled by.’ Accompanied by Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain this tale is a wild, comedic ride along the "road less traveled by."

Tall Fall Tales brings alive the autumn world of nature with original stories and songs sure to delight both young and old. In the hilarious tale Plenty of Nuts, young Beatrice just cannot sit still in class. In the end, a lesson from a neighborhood squirrel helps her learn how to concentrate. Fall Fire, based on a Native American myth, tells how a friendly beaver painted the trees with autumn’s fiery colors. Celebrate fall and New England with this enchanting seasonal performance.
