Fantastical Folktales of Flowers @ Chatham Center for Active Living, Chatham, MA
March 22 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
From the dramatic to the sublime to the wildly humorous, world stories about flowers are deeply entertaining. Retold by award-winning storyteller and theatre artist, Diane Edgecomb, along with long time collaborator and Celtic harper, Margot Chamberlain, conjure a magical world bringing new meaning to favorite garden flowers. The centerpiece of the performance is the Persian legend of The Nightingale and Rose. Diane’s original adaptation follows this exotic flower through the ages weaving together myths from many cultures that speak of the rose and its origins. This evocative tapestry of story and song includes the tale of the lamentable Narcissus, a Native American story about the Dandelion and lore of the mysterious “Language of Flowers,” celebrated in Victorian times. The one hour performance is woven through with music completing the storytelling magic.
The Performance takes place at the Chatham Center for Active Living at 193 Stony Hill Road, Chatham, MA 02633.
The program is free and open to the public. No registration required.
