Moved by the silencing of the Kurdish language by Turkish laws, renowned American storyteller Diane Edgecomb embarks on a journey of intrigue and heart to record the last Kurdish storytellers. This is the deeply moving, richly humorous story of her travels through the remote mountains of Turkey and of the extraordinary people who shared their lives and their stories with her.

Join us at this intimate house concert to hear traditional tales personally gathered in the "stans." Diane and Cathryn share the stories they gathered in remote regions - Diane's folkloric stories from Kurdistan and Cathryn's from Uzbekistan and other regions. Cathryn has been to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and will tell Turkemenistan stories from their most famous bard, Dede Korkut. Diane will be sharing new Kurdish folk and fairy tales never before translated or told in English.

Diane entertains seniors at Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor, Connecticut with a delightful excursion into Irish fairy legends. Expect music, songs and merriment in this special program with harp accompaniment by Margot Chamberlain.

Award-winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb shares seasonal folktales and myths including the beautiful "Legend of the Mistletoe" from Scandinavia and humorous English Wassail traditions. Filmed at New Hampshire Theater Project's intimate theater in 2016 and 2017 with two cameras and superior sound, "From Darkness to Light" will be available as a Vimeo on Demand to ticket buyers through the entire holiday season: December 18th - December 26th.

This evening's ZOOM celebration of the Winter Solstice begins with a story-sharing led by Story Space veterans. Diane's 8:00 pm feature will follow and include a zoom-live telling of Balder and the Mistletoe from Scandinavia and humorous English Wassail traditions. Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan offers a fascinating look at the stories behind our holiday traditions.

Diane takes a full-frontal dive into her real-life adventures as a singing wench at Boston's notorious Medieval Manor dinner theater in this unusual coming of age story. While waiting tables for her big break, Diane hustles swill-filled pitchers of beer and serves up a plethora of innuendos, plopping them right beside the French bread, while singing her heart out for bikers and bachelorette parties in the belly basement of this Boston landmark. Lots of communal fun as we join in the faux Medieval sing-a-longs and experience the great leveling power of “free alcohol on tap!”

Seagull Press is part of the prestigious University of Chicago Press and this book will be published as part of their ENACTMENT series.
