Diane's 8:00 pm feature will follow and include a zoom-live telling of Balder and the Mistletoe from Scandinavia and humorous English Wassail traditions. Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan offers a fascinating look at the stories behind our holiday traditions.
Diane will share stories for two groups via two different Zooms for Odyssey Day School to celebrate their International Week! Pre-K-3rd grade will hear the wintertime Grimm's fairy tale Snow White and Rose Red a classic story gathered in Germany at the start of Europe's renewed interest in folk literature. The older students will explore adaptations by hearing Diane's version of the Aesop's fable "Tortoise and the Hare" in which Tortoise loves to read (letters!) and the Hare is a speed reader who misses the most important part of the book he races through. The part about the Ice Cream Cone of course! An additional look at how different cultures tell the same story will focus on the Kurdish version of Cinderella. Halloween comes alive with Diane's interactive performance of Spookifying tales. These unusual stories are filled with fun, chills and thrills and are appropriate for family audiences ages five and up. Free and open to the public. Registration required.

Once Upon A Halloween is a fun-filled, Halloween event – complete with a huge cauldron bubbling over with fog for the last dramatic story! This family program contains some old chestnuts as well as great new Halloween stories full of surprises. All tales are appropriate for family audiences and contain a well-rounded blend of suspense and humor.
This private performance for Cabot After School in Newton is full of participation and fun! The fall themed performance tells how the leaves got their bright autumn colors, how the star came to be inside every apple (in the story of the "Old Apple Tree") and we learn a Native American canoeing song in the unusual tale of Gluscabe the Native American giant who battles the wind. Lots of participation and fun in this celebration of the many things that make autumn in New England so enriching.
